Pierre Bonnard is one of my favorite artists, one I don't think gets the attention he deserves. I like the way these cat prints make the most of his stunning use of color, adding cats (which Bonnard loved) for a light touch of humor. After Lunch With Pierre Bonnard reflects the sunny dining room Bonnard often painted.
Bonnard often painted from photographs and sketches, instead of using models. Doing so, he was easily able to include cats and dogs that would otherwise never sit still. His technique was such that he could used color to vivify the energy of people and animals in his pictures. The seemed to move while frozen forever in time.
fter Lunch With Pierre Bonnard does a great job of matching Bonnard in his own environment and finding realistic ways of making it cat art by adding them in the picture.
