Cat Art: Favorite Famous Artists' Cats | Deborah Julian Art

Here's an interesting idea: Cat Art: Favorite Famous Artists' Cats | Deborah Julian Art. Deborah has taken her three most popular cat prints and put them together as a gift set.

Van Gogh's bedroom gets taken over by cats. In Degas' Millinery Shop, a playful cat can't resist the lure of ribbons. And all three again risk Cézanne's rage by "helping" with his still life by giving it the once over.

Hard to imagine how images could be more fun for cat lovers than in  Cat Art: Favorite Famous Artists' Cats. Take a look. Let me know what you think.

A Deep Blue Set Of Matisse Inspired Cat Prints Now Available

You take favorite paintings by Henri Matisse, mix in cats and you get A Deep Blue Set Of Matisse Inspired Cat Prints.

Matisse loved cats, had them in his studio and, like his rival and friend Pablo Picasso, had himself photographed with them. Also, like Picasso, he used cats as subjects for paintings.

Deborah Julian takes that step further, introducing cats into art inspired by Matisse. This pleases the cats since they really don't enjoy being abstract. The backgrounds, sure, but they would rather appear as they really are. This is based on the general cats' belief that they are already perfect.

A Deep Blue Set Of Matisse Inspired Cat Prints is a set of three cat are prints as beautiful as they are fun, taking on the natural strengths of the art and the cats.

What is a gray and white cat??

Hi there Mister here. Mom googled my color which is gray and white and it doesn't look like I have an official name like the Tortie, Tuxedo and the Tabby and so on. So does anyone know if my color has a name??

I love to drink my water out of this bucket. It fills up with the rain off the roof so it is extra tasty. I am 14 years old but seem to be doing just fine.

Lead Remains High in the Blood of Children

Despite changes in the supply of motor fuel, i.e., the move toward unleaded petrol, high levels of lead in the blood of children is still an issue. In the northern hemisphere there are seasonal fluctuations in levels of lead.

Though the general amount of lead present in the environment has fallen, it remains significantly high in the blood of children. Much of the lead released decades ago is still there. The polluted fine particles are swept up into the air in the warmer months of July, August and September. This is the time when children are outside playing their sports.

Money would be better spent on "fixing" the suspended lead rather than reducing content in products we use. Finding a way to "lock-in" the lead particles would end the damage to future generations of people. Once lead reaches a high level in the blood it is extremely difficult to reduce. Damage to the brain and nervous system is permanent.

Cat Books: Travels With George

When I started out as a writer and decades after, cat books were among the last things I expected to write. Well, cats books weren't even among the last things. I hadn't thought of it at all.

Well, times change, and here in Cat Books: Travels With George, you get to see how it all came about and read some sample chapters from George's cat's eye view of visiting Paris and New York.

Here's a confession, though. George is a cat, and he didn't really type these stories out on a keyboard. He couldn't. Cats have paws, not fingers. And he couldn't create the illustrations either. Same reason.

But the thoughts and impressions are his, even if I channeled them. When you read Cat Books: Travels With George, you're on your way to discovering why cats love to travel and how odd their human companions seem from a cat's point of view.

Cat Prints: Artists' Cats, Funny Cats, Wise Cats | Deborah Julian Art

Cat Prints: Artists' Cats, Funny Cats, Wise Cats  from Cat Artist Deborah Julian gives us a surprisingly broad range of cat art in Giclée reproductions.

Deborah Julian's cat prints are more artsy and mor subtly amusing than most of what's on the market. Not to deny the beauty of her cat models, I'd say they were a fair step apart from the cutesy cat art we see such a flood of on the internet, much of it free and worth every penny.

Fine art is an important element in her cat prints as you can see from her creative and often funny series, Famous Artists' Cats. Until you see Van Gogh's Bedroom with cats added, you might not guess the fun and pleasure you can get from merging what would seem to disparate arts.

You're going to enjoy Cat Prints: Artists' Cats, Funny Cats, Wise Cats, especially if appreciate artwork that takes a firm position apart from the mainstream.

Land of Mu in Indian Ocean?

Those who study ancient records have presumed that the claimed submerged continent of Mu was in the middle of the Pacific. They may be looking in the wrong place. An undersea continent has been identified beneath the Indian Ocean.

It was not sin or playing with dangerous science that caused the destructive disaster. Tectonic plates moving apart split the continent into many islands. Beneath the waves lava flows have covered the ancient land near the Seychelles which was part of the Indian subcontinent.

The region which includes the Seychelles, Mauritius, Maldives and Madagascar has an anomaly. It has a stronger gravitational field than other place around the world. This is because the crust is 25 kilometers thick, compared to as little as 5 kilometers elsewhere.

Tortie Tuesday

Hi there, Splitters here and I am one of three torties around here, so we have lots and lots of tortitude going on. We all like to be in charge so everyone makes a wide berth around us.
Hi there, Momma kitty here and I am Splitters and Gertrude's Mom and many of the others around here including Ohs, Tees and Bees. I still boss those boys around when they are not behaving. The Person actually touched me a tiny bit but I must have been not paying attention to let that happen.
Hi there, Missy here. I am the kitty that got left behind when the neighbors moved away. No one comes near me around here. I have them all trained now. But I am a sweet kitty too. I like to watch TV with the Person and my favorite thing is to sit in a sun puddle.

Mancat Monday

Hi there Ohs here, and in this tub is where the catnip plant was last summer. Well there is still a few little tiny remains, so I love to rub on it.
I do wish the Person would move that pot so I can right to the catnip. I don't know why it is there anyway. I don't know if you see or not, but I got in another fight with that darn black and white cat and my jaw is pretty swollen. But I am eating and doing all right so far. Probably going to need some antibiotics.

We sure are wishing everyone a marvelous Monday.

Create Your Own Country

Establish your own country. People have been doing this for decades. They pronounce kingship and plant crowns on their heads to rule in perpetuity. Don't laugh. These people are serious. Such "countries" have currencies made, issue stamps and visas, and even produce constitutions. People can become "citizens" on the Internet.

Why do they establish new countries? Some do it because they are fed up with the country they live in, others to highlight an issue of contention. Doing it just for laughs or getting an income from tourism is not uncommon.

Recently a meeting of micronations took place at a Sydney university. They discussed their place in The Lonely Planet Guide to Home-Made Nations. The meeting went well. There were Laughs aplenty. Just imagine how the leaders were decked out with flowing robes, scepters and crowns.

There is a problem, however. It is an illusion of independence. The "countries" are still part of the larger countries they are in. If the leader works, he/she has to pay income tax to the larger nation. Furthermore, a tiny new nation pays rates and land taxes to the local council.

Cat Prints: Milk For Gauguin's Cat | Deborah Julian Art

Here's are new cat prints from Deborah Julian Art. Milk For Gauguin's Cat cat prints are a take off on one of Paul Gauguins best know, but strangest paintings. It's sort of very advance surrealism.

Milk For Gauguin's Cat by Deborah Julian

Gauguin's still life is either on an enormous table or the floor has become a section of the table. Nonetheless, Gauguin has filled a bowl with milk for his puppies and Deborah Julian has brought her cat in to join them.

Society Ignores the Disabled

With workplace participation by those with disabilities being a prime goal touted by government there is no solid progress. Words are cheap and politicians know it. Funding is just not there. Businesses must make a profit to survive in a competitive world and they will not take the disabled on without subsidies. This is a fact.

Those with disabilities are even shunned by the public at large. They face discrimination every day. They feel that government ignores them as must as businesses. Ninety four per cent of disabled people said this in a recent survey.

Besides having a job, they want support in basic social contact. Many do not have a circle of friends. When they are with a carer, bank staff, for example, talk to the carer without speaking to the person cared for. The disabled are ignored as being "non-people".

Wheelchair access has not been improved for years. Public transport is out of the question for many. Parts of the city are never visited by the disabled. Such areas are impossible for wheelchairs.

Vet Trip

Here I am lounging in the bed in the Person's bedroom. I had to go to the vet today and was a very good boy. I was having trouble keeping my balance and wasn't eating very much.I also was tilting my head to the side and was having trouble running and mainly jumping up on things. If I shook my head, I would almost fall over.
So all the other kitties in the house are furious because I have the bedroom for now. And the reason is that Mahoney and Two Two chase me and that is because I am not feeling well enough to tell them where to go.

I have a ear infection and had to have a bunch of shots and I have to have ear drops twice a day. Good luck on that happening. If I am not better by Friday, they have to do some more things to my ear and see if I have polyps and that would not be good.

The Person wants to tell you how much she loves our special vet. They were backed up, so he came out and just took me to the back so she wouldn't have to wait hours. And they examined me, gave me my shots and brought me back to the Mom.

Little Bit and Mahoney here at the top of our tree. We are totally undone about the closed door to the bedroom. How does the Person think we are going to survive without going in there tonight?? If only we could find a home for Baby Doll, then we would have a room for the sick.

We sure hope everyone has a fun and safe day.

Reptiles Are at Greater Risk of Extinction

Though there are worries over extinction of all animals, it is reptiles who are in most danger. Some reptiles are pretty, but for the most part they are seen as ugly. Because of this they lose out on conservation funding. This is serious with one in five reptile species predicted to die out.

People are moving into previously pristine regions of the tropics to log valuable trees and to practice logging. The conclusion about endangered reptiles has been reached by 200 of the world's scientific experts. Funding is not enough. We need to change human behavior. This of course means changing human needs, which is more challenging.

Concentrating on saving turtles is good for them. Other reptiles, however, remain at risk. The living and reproductive systems of many reptiles is still unknown. Out of sight, out of mind leads to extinction. Reptiles tend to live in the toughest of environments. Such specialization does result in their demise when humans change the habitat.

Those who should know better have forgotten about reptile extinction. Threatened species are logged in the IUCN Red List. Only a third of endangered reptiles are on the list. In depth recording of reptiles tends to be regional and is not collated worldwide.

Your Body Runs Without You

The human body runs on its own. Think of the times your mind is working on a problem and during the evaluation process your body is continuing with daily routine tasks. It happens every day. You reach a conscious conclusion on a problem and then wonder have I had a cup of coffee? Oh yes, you have - you can still taste it.

The body can you give you unwanted pain as well.  Your body can do things totally out of your control that really "bug" you, like teeth that hurt, hiccups, stitch, pins and needles or cramp.

Some get a headache or painful teeth when they eat or drink something cold. This is due to sensitive nerve endings in teeth. You can use special toothpaste that takes months before it becomes effective. In the mean time stay away from cold things.

Hiccups is caused by eating and drinking too fast, or taking in air. It can also be caused by becoming suddenly nervous. The only real known cure it to take beta blockers. Though you have to wait until the medication takes effect.

A stitch occurs during exercise when your body tries to tell you that is enough. Stopping the strenuous activity will "cure" the malady.

Pins and needles happens when the blood supply to nerve endings in the limbs is constricted. Get up and move around then normal feeling will return to the "dead" limb.

The cause of cramp is unknown. Dehydration and being unfit are not factors - well hydrated supremely fit sports people get afflicted with it. Spasmodic constricting muscles hurt. The only thing you can do is wait for them to settle down - perhaps more beta blockers.

Your body is a complex machine. Look after it. Service it well. The model you have has its own quirks. Just learn to live with them.
